Description
This charmingly named Calendula, 'Oopsy Daisy' is an annual flower and has attractive daisy-like flowers with orange-tipped petals and cream centres. The plants are very compact reaching about 30cm tall, are easy to sow and grow and will flower all through summer and into autumn.
A great choice for patio pots and containers and also at the front of beds and borders. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies and to useful predators of aphids such as lacewings and hover flies.
When to sow | Sow April to May and/or late August to September outside, or March to April indoors. |
Where to sow | Best sown direct outdoors in flowering position 0.5cm (1/4in) deep. |
Alternatively sow indoors or under glass 0.5cm (1/4in) deep, for planting out in April and May. | |
What to do next | For seeds sown indoors , when seedlings are large enough to handle acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Then, transplant into final growing positions planting them 30cm (12in) apart. |
