Description

Achillea 'Cerise Queen' is a hardy perennial which is low maintenance and will provide an explosion of summer colour to your beds and borders. The bright blooms look stunning on slender, sturdy stems with green 'fern like' foliage making them excellent for cut flowers.

The small cerise crimson flowers with a white centre are particularly attractive to butterflies.

When to Sow February to June, or September to October
Sow indoors on the surface of moist compost filled pots or trays and cover the seeds with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm position (temperature of 15 to 20 °C (59 to 68°F) is ideal). To maintain this temperature you may require a propagator or place the tray inside a sealed polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 5 to 10 days.
What to do Next When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays and grow on in cooler conditions.
When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise indoor raised seedlings to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Then transplant into final growing position planting them 60cm (24in) apart.
Water well until plants are established.
Keep the display going for longer by cutting back by about half after the first flush of blooms.
Flowering period May to August (following summer).
Companion Planting Extremely attractive to butterflies and other pollinating insects
