Description
Calendula 'Orange King' is an easy to grow hardy annual which will grow in most soils. It is exactly as its name would suggest, with brilliant orange double flowers on bright green foliage.
They reach a height of 45-60cm and this beautiful orange flower goes well with blue, purple and white flowers and against any foliage, and will look great in a border or as a cut flower.
Calendula is also a really useful companion plant for the vegetable garden as it attracts bees and other pollinating insects as well as beneficial insects which will help to reduce pests such as aphids.
| When to sow | Sow April to May or late August to September outside, March to April indoors or under glass. |
| Where to sow | Best sown direct outdoors in flowering position 0.5cm (1/4in) deep. |

| What to do next | For seeds sown indoors , when seedlings are large enough to handle acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Then transplant into final growing position planting them 30cm (12in) apart. |
